About The Artist
Kate’s studio is in a historical part of the old courtyard stables of Marlay House in Rathfarnham, Dublin 16, which dates back to 1764.
The room used to be home to Evie Hone (1896-1955) Irish painter and stained glass artist who designed one flank of the east window of the chapel of Eton College who’s windows were shattered during the war. The replacement was installed in 1952 and is considered by many to be one of the masterpieces of modern stained-glass art.

Award-winning artist Kate Bedell’s paintings are informed by the natural world of her environment. She creates sensitive and expressive paintings in watercolour of the parkland where her studio is located in Marlay Park. She draws her inspiration from the changing light of the landscape and from the intricate shapes and colours of flowers from the walled garden and the newly-planted cottage garden at Laurelmere Lodge in the grounds of the 200 acres of Marlay Park.
Through her impressionist style Kate strives to achieve the essence of a scene which connects us to the beauty of the world.
