Kate Bedell - Irish Watercolour Artist

“Images of India”        

January 2008, Solo Exhibition

In “Images of India” I presented paintings of women from different parts of India; Hampi, Rajasthan, and Bangalore. Due to time constraints and a hundred other events, especially my hip operation and our move back to Ireland, my painting output had been somewhat sparse.

The painting technique is similar to the work in “Expressions” where I have used a combination of collage and mixed media techniques with the watercolour. I feel that it really accentuates the wonderful textures of the walls in the old villages. The veiled faces of the women continue to intrigue me and of course the colourful sarees provide an irresistible excuse to use loads of colour.
